ABOUT US
From Workshop to Dream Shop
We didn’t buy into a business—we built it from the ground up. Our Richmond Hill workshop is more than a place for welding and metalwork; it’s the result of years of saving, planning, and trusting each other’s strengths. As a couple, we’ve combined our skills to offer something rare: a fabrication service that’s just as much about the people behind it as it is about the product itself. We offer CNC laser capabilities, full-spectrum welding, and true customization, all backed by clear communication and respect for your time and budget. When we say we bring a personal touch to the metalworking industry, we mean it.
FAQS
Get to Know Us Better
Who runs Modern Metal Fab?
Modern Metal Fab is owned and operated by the husband-and-wife team of Matthew Estep and Amanda Kari. We’re not a big shop with layers of staff or outsourced teams—just two passionate people who care deeply about what we build and who we build it for. Matthew brings years of industrial millwright experience, which means he understands the structural demands and technical precision required for large-scale commercial and industrial projects. Amanda contributes her natural talent for design and creative thinking, with a sharp eye for aesthetic detail and usability. Together, we craft custom metalwork that seamlessly blends functionality and form, with hands-on collaboration at every step. When you reach out to Modern Metal Fab, you won’t be passed off to someone else—you’ll speak directly with one of us, and we’ll be the ones fabricating your project. That personal connection is what drives our quality and defines our approach.
What makes your shop different?
Modern Metal Fab stands out because of who we are and how we work. We’re not a high-volume fabrication plant pushing out generic parts—we’re a couple who took our complementary skills and built something personal, precise, and client-focused. What makes us different is the way we approach every project: with curiosity, respect, and direct collaboration. We listen to your ideas—whether they come from engineered plans or a sketch on a napkin—and we find a way to make them real. Our in-house tools, including CNC laser cutting and advanced welding capabilities, provide us with the flexibility to handle both artistic and industrial projects. But it’s not just about equipment—it’s about people. You’ll work directly with us from start to finish. We care about the details, we care about your timeline, and we care that you feel heard. That’s what sets our shop apart from the rest.
Do you both work on every project?
Yes—when you hire Modern Metal Fab, you’re getting both of us on your project from start to finish. We don’t subcontract your vision or pass it along to someone else. Matthew and Amanda handle every aspect of your project in-house, from the first phone call or message to the final polish and delivery. We divide the work based on our strengths—Matthew leads technical planning, welding, and structural execution, while Amanda focuses on design elements, layout, and aesthetic decisions. However, we collaborate constantly, checking each other’s work and ensuring that every piece meets our shared standards. This dual approach enables you to benefit from both industrial-grade craftsmanship and custom design expertise. Whether your project is a heavy-duty platform, a decorative railing, or a piece of custom furniture, you’ll always know who’s building it—and you’ll always be able to reach us directly with questions or changes.
Can I visit your shop?
While we don’t operate a traditional walk-in storefront, we welcome clients who would like to see where the work takes place. Our shop, located in Richmond Hill, GA, serves as both our creative space and fabrication floor. As a small, hands-on operation, we work by appointment to ensure we can give you our full attention. If you’re interested in discussing a project, reviewing examples of our materials, or learning more about how we work, we’re happy to schedule a meeting at your convenience. We’ll walk you through our process, show you the tools we use—such as our CNC laser system—and discuss your goals, timeline, and budget. Transparency is important to us, and seeing the space in person often helps clients feel more confident and excited about what’s possible. Just reach out to set up a time—we’d love to connect.
How do I get started?
Getting started with Modern Metal Fab is simple and low-pressure. You can call us, text us, or fill out the form on our website—whatever’s easiest for you. Tell us what you’re thinking, even if it’s not fully formed. We’re accustomed to transforming napkin sketches and rough ideas into tangible, functional designs. From there, we’ll discuss the project scope, materials, budget, and timeline with you directly. Once we understand your vision, we’ll provide a clear quote with no hidden fees or vague language. If you decide to move forward, we’ll get to work—staying in touch along the way to confirm details and share updates. Our goal is to make the entire process feel personal, collaborative, and honest. Whether it’s your first custom piece or one of many, we’re here to help every step of the way.
